The 10 Nutrition Rules To Live By:
- COME BACK TO EARTH! Try to choose the least processed forms of food such as fruits, veggies, and whole grains.
- Shop the perimeter of the store for freshest ingredients.
- Eat BREAKFAST every day!
- Eat smaller portions more often, spread evenly across the day. No excuses - you should be eating 5 - 8 meals/day!
- Stay HYDRATED (.6 x body weight = ounces of water per day) by drinking only non-caloric beverages (water/green tea). Limit diet sodas as well ~ the phosphoric acid pulls calcium from the bones contributing to osteoporosis.
- Include a LEAN protein source with each meal.
- Choose foods, especially carbs, rich in FIBER (25 - 35g/day). 100% whole wheat/whole grain products.
- Add a multivitamin with anti-oxidant complex and an omega 3 /omega 6 blend into your daily routine.
- Eat fruits or vegetables with each meal. Green vegetables are key!
A vibrant and colorful diet will provide the most nutrients.
- Drink a mixture of carbohydrate and protein before and/or after your workout. Cheapest option is 8oz of chocolate skim milk which has simple carbohydrates and protein which will quickly restore energy to your muscles for your next workout.
- Last, but not least - Get some rest. The body recovers and repairs when it is sleeping.
